If you are Nokia E51 user, your phone is a symbian phone and the phone is smart enough to detect the APN (Access Point Name) Settings when you insert the SIM card into the phone.
Nonetheless, if you wish to configure the APN Settings manually, you can do so by:
1) Accessing the phone menu
2) Goto Tools.
3) Goto Settings
4) Goto Connections
5) In Connection Menu, look for "Access Points".
6) Once you are in "Access Points Menu". Click "Option" (which is located on the bottom left of the phone screen).
7) Select "New Access Points". Now you can start setting in the APN settings manually.

To enable you to select the type of APN to use when you browse the Internet or accessing the application.
You must set your browser to enable you to manual select.
To do so:1) Goto your phone Menu
2) Goto Web
3) Click on "Options" (which is located on the bottom left of the phone screen).
4) Select "Settings"
5) Click on "General" and you will see the word "Access Points". Click on it and select "Always Ask"
6) Click ok and go back to Web browser screen.
The settings is complete.
The next time you access the browser or application that requires you to connect to a data connection, you will be able to choose the type of connection to use.
